The head office of the German Railroad was looking to upgrade their dated round downlight lighting installation and identified the apl LTwo® Lumami Downlight as the perfect solution for their lighting challenge if integrating a modern linear downlight into the existing electrical infrastructure of their current installation.
Replacing traditional office round downlights with modern linear LTwo® light fixtures offers a transformative upgrade in both aesthetic and functional aspects of the workspace. This shift not only modernizes the visual appeal of the office but also enhances the comfort and productivity of employees while delivering significant energy savings.
Round downlights, while once a standard in office lighting, often create uneven illumination and can cause glare or shadowing issues, particularly in open-plan environments. apl LTwo®, on the other hand, provides a more uniform distribution of light, reducing contrast and helping to eliminate dark spots with their selection of ten light directing optics and UGR<16 antiglares. This consistency improves visibility and reduces eye strain, which is especially important for employees who spend long hours at computer screens or handling detailed tasks.
From a comfort standpoint, linear LEDs contribute to a more pleasant and functional workspace. These lights typically feature better color rendering in CRI90+, which helps in maintaining a natural look to colors in the environment. This can be especially important in design, marketing, or retail-based offices where color accuracy is key.
Another notable benefit of switching to linear LED lighting is the reduction in glare. Many LED linear fixtures are designed with diffusers and low-glare optics that make the light more comfortable on the eyes, especially in settings with screens and reflective surfaces. This can lead to fewer complaints of headaches and visual fatigue, fostering a healthier work environment and boosting employee well-being and satisfaction.
Energy efficiency is one of the most compelling reasons to upgrade from round downlights to linear LEDs. LED technology consumes significantly less power than traditional lighting and has a much longer lifespan. A typical LED light uses up to 60-80% less energy than conventional incandescent or halogen bulbs, and up to 30-50% less than compact fluorescents. This leads to considerable cost savings over time, not just in electricity consumption but also in reduced maintenance and replacement costs thanks to apl´s patented magnetic mounting socket.
