The client is living in an almost 100 year old brick and mortar residence belonging to a listed mining settlement. His task was to renovate the old lighting in the open-plan kitchen. There were reservations as to whether the modern apl product would fit in with the historic design of the building and achieve the desired lighting results. Five downlights with single-ended fluorescent lamps and the outdated track spotlights in the dining area had to be replaced.

For the kitchen the 220mm wide openings of the downlight were covered with Lumami(r)DOWNLIGHT using the 60 degree LTwo(r) lighting optic over the workplane, to provide maximum glare free task lighting and the LTwo(r) with oval optic over the window simulating natural daylight. The used LTwo(r) were each 1120mm long.
The existing high voltage three phase track light was equipped with a variety of different LTwo(r) in connection with the Lumami(r) HV TRACK product. Two 1120mm long LTwo(r) with 60 degree and oval optic where used to provide a mix of functional and ambient lighting. Additionally two 140mm LTwo(r) with 13 and 25 degree optic where used as spot lights for art pieces. All of the lamps are individually controlable via Casambi.

The client was especially impressed with the quality and effect of the light, the uniformity and the true-to-life reproduction of colors. He further enjoyed the ease of integration into the lighting control system, adjustability of the light angle, and, last but not least, the ease of keeping the product clean.

The customer particularly emphasized that the luminaire blends seamlessly into the architecture and virtually becomes one with it. He said he is very impressed on how well the product design can work with modern, state of the art and historic buildings at the same time.
